HTMi Australia offers world class Swiss hospitality education through a curriculum based on a pedagogical model that relies heavily on experiential learning. Students are immersed in practical modules and workshops throughout the program. An important aspect of the practical component is the internships at AccorHotels where students will learn the techniques applied at one of the best global hotel chains.
An internship is a period of observing, learning, and practising in a business environment, where students are given the opportunity to integrate theory with the practice and responsibility of the workplace. HTMi Australia students will have the opportunity to complete their internship at an AccorHotels property within Australia, providing them with practical experience by exposing them to general systems of operation, as well as to the philosophies and aims of the hotel*.
Students will have the opportunity to ‘learn and earn’ through paid operational roles within the Food & Beverage, and Housekeeping departments. Opportunities to gain experience within non-operational roles will also be available within the Human Resources, Revenue, Sales & Marketing, and Finance departments in an unpaid capacity. The hourly rate for paid internships (in a housekeeping or food & beverage role) will start at the base casual hourly rate of $25.28/hour. This is based on the Hospitality Industry General Award pay rate effective 2/7/18 and will be updated with the annual revised award rates (next revision is 1/7/19).
*Paid internships subject to employer approval of intern application.
**Remuneration is dependent on negotiation with the employer; some students may choose to work on a voluntary basis.
